Backgammon is a board game wherein player's strategies change several times throughout the entire game. Because of this condition, flexibility plays an important role in the game. Players must be quick to respond to opponent's sudden shift in strategies and apply the necessary adjustments or counter strategies. This attitude is a sign of a successful Backgammon player.
Backgammon players can employ several strategies during the game if the need arises. One of these strategies or tactics which is commonly used is the "Back Game Strategy". This strategy may not be the best one because it puts the player logging in the game and requires hitting your opponent's checkers just to have a winning chance.
Before opting to employ the Back Game strategy, a player must first take into considerations several things that include examining several points present at home board of your opponent. A player is said to be holding a strong position if he holds two points provided your opponent is moving his checkers quicker than you. A player will gain no advantage holding two points but have to split them just because you ended up with a high roll. It is very important for a player to have a couple of "floating men" standing by and is ready to be transferred to your home board to create points and will result in a situation wherein your opponent will find it very difficult to re-enter the particular checkers.
It is easier said than done because some problems can crop up such as: your opponent rolling of the dice produces high numbers; the result you got from throwing the dice does not suit into your preset game plan or strategy (for example; you are moving in a much faster pace). Last thing to consider is will your opponent decides to go along your game plan or could you be in the way for a backgammoned.
The Back Game strategy is an intricate one to learn and need to perfectly execution to attain victory. So players trying to employ Back Game must first start try it in fixed bet or small stakes games to avoid losing large amount of money.
Finally, when you think you're on the losing side and your opponent has all the needed things to win easily the best thing to do is not to surrender. Just follow and do your game plan and hold your nerve. Back game strategy may at times fail miserably but snatching a victory in a game is sheer pleasure especially if the game is going your opponent's way.
